Singapore 0 – Liverpool 5 (part 2)

Part 2 of Liverpool’s visit to the National Stadium. The first half saw the merseysiders deploying most of their reserves, The Singapore team held their own and created some good chances. Alas during time added on for the first half Liverpool scored their goal. Half Time Score Singapore 0, Liverpool 1.

rafa getsoff theline

You don’t see this too often when the Rafa the Manager gets off his line and starts barking orders to his players.

Liverpool was wearing their new away kit if you notice the score boards says Black for the Reds, while the Lions had the Red jersey on being the home team. Hope that was not too confusing.

1st Goal

The first goal above and the celebrations from Voronin near the bottom right. The other pictures are nearer the first half strike from Singapore and a good save in the second half from the Singapore Keeper. I guess I got the correct side to be seated as I figured the second will see some of the big guns come out to play and the Singapore Goal will be nearest to me. Should see plenty of action in the second half.

The Second half started as expected, with Liverpool making a few changes. Soon as the match wore on the flood of goals came, and chants went up around the stadium for Alonso to come on. I think he had the most vocal support from the crowds, everyone wants him to stay at Liverpool and we the fans really made it known to him. Of course the loudest cheer went up for Torres once he came on as a sub. Here are more shots of the action.

Jamie Carragher, marshalling his defence.

A free kick and a rare shot of Reina as he was introduce late in the game. I though he might not play as Liverpool had used 2 of their other keepers already.

p_liverpool subs

The Liverpool sub mid-way through the match, it was a whole sale 5 player swop, Singapore did also rotate their players.

And here is Torres’ goal.

I actually did not realise that the mode I set my camera too was on drive which mean I could take multiple shots quickly, I finally found it out late in the game but still managed to get in this sequence of shots.

Well in the end Liverpool romp to a 5 goal lead. And here is confirmation of the final score. I thoroughly enjoyed the game especially the second half.

Singapore 0 – Liverpool 5 (Part 1)

I got late tickets for the match on Sunday to catch Liverpool play our National Team. The main ones were already sold out by then and left with the South and North Stands. I got the South Stand.

Ticket

As advertised, the Kop Comes to Asia. Did not really want to miss out on the action so I decided to leave early since Parking would probably be an issue. Got there at around 4.30pm, well that was a little early since the match only starts at 7pm, took my time to find a nice spot where I could see the Goal since there probably will be lots of action. Oh got me some souvenirs as well a Scarf and a Horn to make some noise. Cost me $15 for the Scarf and $5 for the Horn and pennant which you could make into a flag with the horn. By that time it was 5pm and the entertainment had started. MCs were around to help with the singing and chants. It was really interesting, even got the song sheets which were given out by Liverpool Supporters Club. The stand were awash in Red and not the Lions red by Liverpool red. There was the unveiling of the winner of the Banner Competition, songs, a Marching Ban and even Football Freestylers.

I like the T-Shirt on this guy, there were also the other famous players out there as well, like Carragher, Kuyt, Alonso and of course Torres, even Gerrad was spotted.

Lets not forget the Singapore Fans, here’s the lone Singapore Fan ……

The players arrived around 6pm, they troop out onto the field at around 6.30pm for the field inspection and to get the feel of the atmosphere, which probably felt like Anfield more than Kallang.

7pm let the MATCH begin !! The huge banner being unfurled below and the very local Kallang Wave on the right below. I think that’s very cool as it has both the English and Local flavours.

REDS are in Town

Woo Hooo …. LIVERPOOL FC is in town. Was trying to see if I could catch them in the malls on down by Clark Quay but alas the timing was all wrong and I already had some other commitments on those times.

Will definately want to catch them when they play the Lions on Sunday.

Eclipse no more

So the much hyped up Solar Eclipse was a real let down since it was practically raining here. Nothing to see but DARK clouds guess you can call that an eclipse of sorts.

Got me a zoom lens for my DSLR camera as well guess now it’s more complete, will hopefully get to test it out soon.

RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults or RCIA for short. I’ve been attending this as a sponsor for the missus. We are about half way through it now the 18 months process, started in September last year and we are all looking forward to Easter next year.

It’s a lot of sharing and learning about the Church and the Catholic faith. I think I too have learn much from it. We had some bonding even at the Botanical Gardens and after that I did a blog for them to put up some pictures. RCIA Gathering

Hazy Days are Here Again

Ah the HAZE has returned, you could even smell it in the air. Terrible but lucky there was some rain and a strong breeze to get rid of the burning smell in the air.

Not a buffet just a simple 6 course Chinese dinner. I just have to say the appetizer and dessert were fantastic. Besides that there was Sharksfin Soup, Rice with Salted Eggs, Abalone Mushroom and pan seared Beef.

App

This was the appetizer with ‘Jellyfish’, Prawns and Peking Duck.

Dessert

The dessert which comprises of a small pastry and that Mango with Lime flavour jelly was outstanding, Very refreshing.
