Water Water Water

A day at the Marina Barrage.

Me and the missus recently went down to the Marina Barrage to check out what all the fuss was about with the new 'City Dam' it stretches across the Marina Bay and will, over time, allow a fresh water lake to form within the central business district itself, a reservoir within the city.

You could see the main Pump Room and there were water features all around. Besides the Barrage where you could walk across, the main building had 2 levels, the building itself housed some eateries and an auditorium where you got to learn about the whole water recycling process. On the top there is a Solar Park to generate it's own power.

There were lots of families there as well. They camp to have little picnics or just to let the Kids play with the water features. About a dozen people were flying their kites, it's a relatively good place to fly your kite as the breeze was very strong.

With the city skyline in the background and the Singapore Flyer. I think the night view would have been nice too when everything is lit up.

We came across an unusual item as we were walking around. Both the missus and I were intrigue by it. Can you guess what this contraption is?

MB6It's actually holder for umbrella's you place your brolly in there and lock it with the key.

Overall a fun fill afternoon at the Barrage, just remember to bring along your Sunglass. Going there on a cool afternoon was ideal. Not too hot and it was really breezy.

Lunar Celebrations

Had the traditional Chinese New Year Celebrations in the office today. It's where Top Management comes down and hands out oranges to everyone. We had the traditional Lion Dance performance as well. Lots of noise and colour and of course I got my oranges as well.

Food Food Food

Over the pass week I've been having some fancy food starting with the Buffet at the Merchant Court, it was not bad, the spread was good, only thing was the Mee Siam wasn't as good as it looks, other than that everything else was good, as usual I like the sushi.

Me and the missus also went for high tea at the Equinox, which was very nice the weather was good which meant the view was excellent, we did not get a window seat but we were close enough. Love the Laksa and Sushi. Pity no pictures of that.

Finally I got to try the Turkish Restaurant alone Beach Road - SOFRA - it was my first time there and I have never tried Turkish food before. I've actually wanted to try this place out for the longest time and I finally did. There were 6 of us who went out for lunch. Check out the appetizers below.

We ended the meal with dessert, 4 to be exact and we all shared, don't try the Pumpkin, it was terrible, we told the waiter about it and he took it back to the kitchen and soon he came back and asked if we wanted to change our dessert we did so in the end we tried 5 of the 6 desserts, don't ask me what they are some chocolate stuff the porridge and the pumpkin that was all I can remember.

Magic Pen

Well I have to say, I'm a little messy eater and at times I would get some curry or food stain on the shirt, well thanks to this little pen which the missus was telling me about that can actually remove stains. I actully gave it a try recently and I was impressed, it actually works ! It's called 'Tide ToGo' and it removes food and drink stains but I think it probably has to be something recent and not if you let it set for a month and try to remove it. So far I've used it once since the new year and it was able to remove the stain, actually the stain was made on purpose and we tried to wipe it off and it could not then we used the 'pen' and it came off.

MagicPen

What I like about this is that it's relatively small and easy to carry around. Convenient too to just open and rub. Guess most suitable if you have small kids who mess up frequently like me ha ha  ....

Welcome 2009

2008 has come and gone, and it's 2009. Happy New Year ! It's the time where you have to remember to throw away those old calenders, dates on cheques to be written as 2009 and not 2008, watch how you tear your parking coupons and not tear off the wrong tab. It also a time for Resolutions. Well since I started 1 set last year, I figured I should try again this year and hopefully able to fulfil a few of the instead of just 1 like I did last year. So I've been thinking about what I should like to do this year and came up with the following 5, well some of it was just taken from last year ha ha.

New Year's Resolution 2009

1) I was close to completing my 4 XBox 360 games last year, so I'm going to give it a shot again and hope to be able to finish off 4 games again this year, maybe even more.

2) Since I am almost there with my comic book cataloging, guess it's only right that I should finish it this year.

3) My mighty Muggs collection of Star Wars toys still have some missing pieces, I think I will try to find them and complete my collection. I roughly have an idea of where to get these so I should be able to complete this set.

4) Got to take the next step in running and try for the half Marathon. I resolve to complete my first half Marathon this year hopefully under 3 hrs. The last time I actually ran that distance was something like 15 to 20 years ago.

5) Lastly I've really got to try to keep fit this year and loose some pounds. I think I will start with a physical examination either in Jan or Feb to gauge my fitness level and also to see if I have any health issues.

Well that's my 5 Resolutions for 2009. Let's see how many I'm going to keep this year.
