A day at the Marina Barrage.
Me and the missus recently went down to the Marina Barrage to check out what all the fuss was about with the new 'City Dam' it stretches across the Marina Bay and will, over time, allow a fresh water lake to form within the central business district itself, a reservoir within the city.
You could see the main Pump Room and there were water features all around. Besides the Barrage where you could walk across, the main building had 2 levels, the building itself housed some eateries and an auditorium where you got to learn about the whole water recycling process. On the top there is a Solar Park to generate it's own power.
There were lots of families there as well. They camp to have little picnics or just to let the Kids play with the water features. About a dozen people were flying their kites, it's a relatively good place to fly your kite as the breeze was very strong.
With the city skyline in the background and the Singapore Flyer. I think the night view would have been nice too when everything is lit up.
We came across an unusual item as we were walking around. Both the missus and I were intrigue by it. Can you guess what this contraption is?
It's actually holder for umbrella's you place your brolly in there and lock it with the key.
Overall a fun fill afternoon at the Barrage, just remember to bring along your Sunglass. Going there on a cool afternoon was ideal. Not too hot and it was really breezy.
