There were a couple of interesting stuff in the newspapers recently, 3 caught my eye.
Firstly the Singapore Armed Forces unveiled their new uniform. From what was stated if I remember correctly it's a new design using pixels to make it harder for the enemy to spot you. It's got Velcro straps instead of buttons and I'm thinking wow no need for sewing kits and buttons any more, 1 less item in the full pack. The collar they upturn it so it looks like those hip John Travolta Grease Lightning look -- fashion man !!. It's suppose to be to protect the neck from the rifle sling, guess it's also handy to ward off mosquitoes, and protect you from the LAW tube straps or 84 gunner straps. Also it suppose to have body Armour, well fine and dandy, lets see how they do the Obstacle Course in that ! It still bugs me this pixilated design, in this age of digital technology and computer games, won't the young man these days be more accustomed to looking at the digital screen and would probably spot you easier in your 'pixilated' uniform ? :)
Finally we can all see that the F1 is coming to town, everyday there are articles on racing and the upcoming F1 circuit in Singapore. The whole downtown is preparing for it. The fences are going up and it's looking like a prison there. The seats and stands are also going up. just 17 more days to the start.
The Last issue was with a reciepe, seems that good old Col Sanders has decided to do some renovation and they had to move the KFC reciepe. It was moved to a secret location under armed escort !! -- and this is just for a piece of paper. It was in a briefcase. Now I'm thinking to myself, would not the ink on that piece of paper has vanished by now ? Would not be surprised if they open the briefcase to see a blank piece of paper, after all it is like 66 years already since the reciepe was written.
And on a more somber note, it's September 11 today, 7 years since the twin towers fell.
